En el año 2006 nos visitó la MFA directora de la Escuela de Teatro de la Universidad de Towson en Baltimore, Juanita Rockwell. Con ella hicimos trabajo de la línea budista Bön y trabajo de improvisaciones y escenificación de su obra teatral Between Trains la cual se estrenó en los EEUU al año siguiente.

Juanita Rockwell is a playwright, librettist, lyricist and director specializing in the development of new work at such venues and companies as The Ontological, Mabou Mines/Suite, Culture Project, Blue Heron, Drilling Company, Bushwick Starr (NYC); Theatre of the First Amendment, Source, DCAC (DC); Everyman, Theatre Project, Single Carrot, Nancy Romita/Moving Co, UnSaddest Factory, Acme Corporation (Balto); City Theatre, Squonk Opera (P’burgh); Gas & Electric Arts (Phila); Teatro Municipal (São Paolo, BR); Teatro Abya Yala (San José, CR); RS9 (Budapest); and on NPR. Her produced writing includes Between Trains, What’s a Little Death (plays with songs); The World is Round, Waterwalk (operas); Cave in the Sky (puppets/multimedia); Lunar Pantoum (dance-theatre); Language Monkey, Across the Void, Packing/Pecking, Quantum Soup, A Table in Hell (short plays); Immortal: The Gilgamesh Variations (multi-playwright adaptation); and Playing Dead (trans. w/Yury Urnov from Bros. Presnyakov). Upcoming projects include writing/directing Backwards From Winter, an opera for soprano and electric cello with composer Douglas Knehans, and an album of songs written in collaboration with composer Chas Marsh. Juanita was Artistic Director of Company One Theater for 6 years (Hartford, CT), premiering early work by such playwrights as Suzan-Lori Parks, Rachel Sheinkin and Paula Vogel. She was Founding Director of Towson University’s MFA in Theatre for 12 years, where she continues to teach. She has also taught in the Wilkes University MA/MFA in Creative Writing (PA) since advising on its development in 2004. She has received awards and funding from a variety of states, cities and foundations, including Fulbright and the NEA, and is a member of the Society of Directors and Choreographers and the Dramatists Guild.
